This just may become a trend. Huge Nora Roberts and I love Montana Sky the book, the 2-hour movie does a great job of the thick book. Acting was good and storyline stayed true to the book.

I have to admit that Montana Sky is my absolute favourite book by Nora Roberts, I have read it probably 20 times and was slightly apprehensive at buying it as we all know how badly books can be when brought to screen, and I like many other people ‘cast’ the roles in books and none of those chosen were in my thoughts. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with the making, I think the film makers got most of the confusion and hurt across and the scenery was pretty spectacular in places, however and I do appreciate that stories have to be broken down and dismantled to fit the movies, I did find the change in Nate’s storyline incredibly weird, and the speed at which the story was told was hurried making it hard to actually care about these characters, therefore it helped as obviously I do as I love this story. If you arent a Nora Roberts reader then this is a good tale, if you are then you have to leave it at the door and just enjoy the fact that they have chosen her books to be made in to films, saying that I think they made a much better job of this book than any of Danielle Steels adaptations.

The dialogue and action of this film from the outset has
an unreality that’s hard to fathom. One example, 3 daughters attending their father’s funeral and the blond
daughter is on the cell phone with some guy and she’s
arguing loudly with profanity totally oblivious of the
other sisters and the people at the funeral wake..like I
could care less..and the subsequent actions and script follow this general unreality in real life; I would dub
this as one of the worst examples of script, characteriz-
ation and hardly worthy of Norah Robert’s novel.

I think Montana Sky is a fairly good movie. I do think it is hard to tell the complete story in only 1,5 hours. I have not read the book, but I can imagine they had to delete or alter storylines. Maybe they should have made a mini-series of it, would have been interesting. I had a feeling some events were very rushed and the ending was a bit lame. The romantic ‘suspense’ was hardly to be found. It was just a nice movie.

If you love her books, you’ll love the movies too. Be aware the books are always better. They have more details and are much more in depth. The movies tell a good story too.
