A rock star is kidnapped by a gang of vicious bikers and her ex-boyfriend agress to rescue her for a price. Studio: Uni Dist Corp. (mca) Release Date: 06/01/2004 Starring: Michael Pare Diane Lane Run time: 93 minutes Rating: PgWalter Hill’s updated (1984), highly stylized take on biker movies still looks like a determinedly eccentric project that happens to work at times, but not at others. Michael ParĂ© plays a biker who agrees to rescue his ex-girlfriend (a rocker played by Diane Lane) from kidnappers (led by Willem Dafoe). The ensuing battle against a nocturnal background of industrial blight, chrome, and loud music is like some fever dream of a Springsteen fan who listened to the song “Born to Run” far too often. The audacity of the film carries it a long way even after it becomes clear that Hill’s experiment is crumbling under its own weight. Dafoe, who looked even spookier back then than he does now, is memorable, as are Amy Madigan and Rick Moranis. Music is by Ry Cooder, with an appearance by the Blasters. The DVD release has a widescreen presentation, optional French soundtrack, optional Spanish subtitles. –Tom Keogh

It’s amazing what people can like! And so many! This movie’s a joke, but if you thought ‘The Warriors’ was cool, you’ll probably find this one great as well. Rick Moranis, who usually plays cheeseball comic roles, was perfect for this cheeseball flick – in fact, being the wimp, he was about the only one I could take seriously in this dingbat flick full of 50′s tough guys and 80′s cheese. What a shallow pointless plot! OK, I should stop pretending this movie ever made pretences of being serious. It must be a reminiscence thing.. or maybe it’s the laugh factor.. or the jaded Dick Tracy one-liners.. or the Villiage People looking cops and bikers.. or William Dafoe.. Hey, now that I think about it, this movie really was good! NOT!

Having received my DVD when I attempted to view same I encountered two difficulties.Firstly the I had to reset my DVD player to a different region which I have since done. However I still cannot play this DVD as when I load the disc it (the DVD disc) requests me to enter a password which I do not have/Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. It appears the DVD is formatted for the USA region which perhaps is the problem even though my player is set up for multi region.
Best regards

First of all thank god I didn’t buy this,I saw it on cable the other night.
This is a STUPID movie!
absolutely EVERYONE in it was overacting, especially Rick Moranis.
Michael Pare’ was trying too sound too much like John Wayne meets Wiseguy. Willem Defoe looks creepier then than he does now.
The story is very silly, some bikers(for no reason in the world)led by Willem Dafoe’s character take this female rockstar singer(played by Diane Lane)that happens to be a former flame of Michael Pare’s character named Cody. They concoct a weak plot to get her back.
Along the way they pick up some tough chick who was totally overacting and unconvincing to help them out(in the meantime she makes some much needed money,as she is down on her luck)
They also accidently pick up some male singers in a a small mini bus….the reason is beyond me.
I guess the more help the better. They didn’t help much.
It was so easy to get the girl back it made me wonder what is the purpose of this movie. I mean he gets her, brings her back home, then goes back to get Willem Dafoe’s character in a cheesy brawl in front of all his motorcyle mates. This movie reminds me of a videogame by CAPCOM or something.
And what was with the time period they were trying to portray?
The cars looked like they were from the 50′s, but yet everyone’s clothes looked like 1984?
Then we have some inaccuracies in dance moves. At the end,one of those blues singers they picked up before starts moonwalking like Michael JAckson?!?
COME ON!!

Despite the bleak, futuristic sets and the presence of Willem Dafoe, this movie is totally ridiculous. The awful soundtrack came from Jim Steinman, the same genius responsible for Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell. The plot and script were terrible! The dialogue was apparently written by a 3rd grader.
