Title: LOVERS LIVE
Street Release Date: 03/05/2002
Genre: SOUL/R & BSade fans may experience a range of emotions while watching the first-rate Lovers Live, but one thing they won’t feel is shortchanged–not with nearly two hours of concert footage, 22 songs (including almost all of her Lovers Rock album), and DVD bonus features galore. That sultry, soulful Sade sound is in full effect throughout the concert (filmed at two Southern California locations in 2001), brought to life by a capable band, some superbly evocative visuals and sound effects, and, of course, the singer herself. The show is dramatic, but never overly theatrical; best of all, Sade, while perhaps not the world’s greatest performer, is an adult–you’ll find no pop-princess posing here. Of the nine songs from Lovers Rock, “Slave Song” and “Immigrant” are especially moving, revealing that Sade added some new flavors to her sound during her protracted layoff from performing. This show is pure Sade–and that’s a good thing. –Sam Graham

I just bought this the other day.It is very good.I have never seen Sade live so this is a good substitute. There were some disappointments though.I thought the song Paradise was pretty bad.And I didn’t care for her dancing with the back up singers.A little too Las Vegasish for me,and corny. And how could she not mention 9/11?????It hurt me that she didn’t refer to it.Unbelievable really. But I love Sade and every one of her cd’s.I hope I get a chance to see her someday.

Same Sade with almost same band members from the legendary San Diego performance in ’93(?), performs much worse in ’00 MGM Grand performance.
Her voice loses power, charisma and charms. Only left with her husky tone.
Her band loses liveliness in this performance. Especially the guitarist/sexophonist looks much older than in ’93 and plays like old man. What is worse is the second guitarist. What is his backgroud? Metal, Thrash? Intro power codes he played in “Paradise” is just aweful.
The overall sound quality and picture quality of this DVD is just average, not excellent.
Don’t recommend to buy one if you already have ’93 performance or unless you are collecting every album of SADE. ’93 Performance is much more artistic, inspiring and attractive.

What a Great concert, but only to take it back in Dolby time and put it on a DVD without Dolby 5.1 – – this should be illegal

Sade sounds better live! Wonderful band. But this DVD almost puts me to sleep. It’s the songs. Ballads. Sleep time. Also Sade can’t dance but her back up men can and sometimes when she spoke to the audiance i can’t understand her.
