As a Title, this 2 disc DVD is a great companion for Sigur Ros fans who have not seen live perfomances and might want to take a look at the band on their natural enviroment, the beatiful and desolates Icelandic landscapes. But don’t belive the product description on the back cover because it offers subtitles for the documentary on at least six different languages, incluiding danish, spanish and portuguese, but it only has english and japanese(ironically this last one isn’t mentioned). Too bad for this great band to have such inaccurate advertisement (in some countries this might be cosidered fraud).

This wasn’t as profound of a find as the first CD of Sigur Ros I ever listened which was Untitled(). But the imagery as others have mentioned is worth the purchase alone. I also thought some of the songs were a little weak. That being said I spent a good 2-3 (maybe 4) hours watching a pouring over this DVD and the extras one it (so how weak was it really?). Will I watch it again? Maybe not directly. It might be something I’ll throw in the DVD player as I’m doing other things on around the house. I could also see how this might be cool to have on the TV at laid back party. Either way, we’re not talking about a down payment on a house here. For less then the price of meal and a few drinks you can have some great entertainment. I vote with my $ and I like what Sigur Ros does, how they handle themselves, and this product.

An incredible journey through Iceland on the hand of Sigur Ros, one of the most innovative music groups of this time. Worth every penny.

    Heima (Dean DeBlois, 2007)

DeBlois (Lilo and Stitch) chronicles the 2006 homecoming of Icelandic shoegaze band Sigur Rós, which combines the usual documentary-style interviews and location shots with footage of twelve concerts the band played in their native land, all free, all unannounced. A must, obviously, for fans of the band, but others will find themselves enchanted by the location footage, of which the decision to include so much must have been a conscious one (after all, the film’s name, translated, is “Home”); at times it feels a lot less like a documentary about a rock band than it does a documentary about Iceland that happens to include a live soundtrack. Worth checking out even if you’ve never heard of Sigur Rós. *** ½

    This DVD set is incredible!

What I don’t understand is the lack of availability and the Market Place prices of $99.

I just picked it up new at Amoeba Records in San Francisco for $16.98 (regular price: $18.98).

Did Amazon lose distribution rights or something? I LOVE Amazon, and was tempted to pay $99, but I’m glad I found it for less.

And Amazon? Please don’t pull this. I send people to you all the time and I’m a long time addicted customer. It doesn’t hurt to send people elsewhere. Remember ‘Miracle on 34th Street’?
