Dark Light
Cabin Fever

Cabin Fever was an innovative recording session where Before The Frost… Until The Freeze was recorded over a series of five nights at Levon Helm

Studios. The sessions were filmed in front of an intimate live audience and allows the viewer into the recording studio with the band. Songwriting sessions are revealed and lots of never before seen banter and behind the scenes footage is shown.

Chris Robinson had this to say about the Cabin Fever sessions:
“I think we fulfilled a musical commitment to continue on the golden road of artistic independence. Approaching 20 years into our careers, we still are ambitious enough to push ourselves to create something unique that we have never done before.”

As The Black Crowes approach the upcoming 20th anniversary of their release of one of rock’s most influential records, Shake Your Money Maker, which produced such hits as Jealous Again, She Talks To Angels and Hard to Handle, they are time and again hailed as one of Rock and Roll’s best live acts.

This DVD is quickly becoming one of my favorite BC concert performances. The Crowes here touch on Skynyrd , the Stones and now Creedence Clearwater and some ole mountain music. Which i am especially fond of. Their version of “Oh Sweet Nuthin’”

is very moving and the guitar interplay between Luther & Rich Robinson is incredible. The band has found their way now and are a solid unit. The Crowes are the only band today playing what i like to listen to!! As always it is going to be a long time before this disc leaves the DVD player. :)

Set the wayback machine to 1969-1972 and journey with the Crowes back to a time when musicians had a lot of hair and made real rock music, with lots of country/americana thrown in. It’s fitting this was recorded at Levon Helm’s studio in upstate NY. Like Mr. Helm and The Band, the Black Crowes hail primarily from the South, but are making great, organic music up North. This project, combined with Warpaint and Warpaint Live, shows that 20 years into it, they’re making some of the best music of their career right now. Not only that, but they really are in a good space energy-wise. Keep up the good work!!

Like most Amoricans out there…I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Cabin Fever. “Before The Frost…Until The Freeze” CD captured live on DVD. I found it to be very laid back. I was hoping for more of the older Crowes style, but was very impressed with the dynamics and chemistry that these guys have developed over the years. I’ve been a big fan since the first album came out. I’ve seen a lot of their live shows. Cabin Fever hit me different. I’ve watched it a few times since my purchase. It has grown on me a great deal. I like the direction that the Crowes have taken. With that being said….I am a true Amorican, and that I will continue to follow that direction with them. Peace!

Cabin Fever/Before The Frost is the best Crowes yet. It shows that the B;lack Crowes have grown as musicians, songwriters and a band. Goodmorng Captain is now my new favorite Crowes song. If you like the Black Crowes, you will love Cabin Fever
