Using vibrant, thrilling hi-def aerial photography, Gray Eagles shows the reunion between humble WWII Mustang ace Jim Brooks and the historic plane February, that after 60 years, he never thought he would see again. Inspired by the flood of memories that were triggered by this unimaginable encounter, the 87-year old pilot finally breaks his silence, sharing his stories and experiences of war with the grandchildren who never thought they’d hear them. The survival of history depends on the passing along of first-hand accounts. Gray Eagles shows how a long lost friend in the guise of a plane inspired one man to share his.
Filmmaker Chris Woods’ interviews with Brooks, his grandchildren, and other airmen who were touched by the Mustang’s historic role, are cut together to create a compelling narrative to accompany the stunning photography. The raw wartime photos of the ace and the Mustang in their prime add depth and visual impact to this memorable, emotional, and powerful film.

This was a wonderful documentary on one WWII double fighter ace, his family and his mount, a P-51 Mustang nicknamed “February”. Stunning cinematography worthy of Academy recognition with a very complimentary narration by Peter Coyote. Very emotional closing footage.

This is a beautifully made short film that should be in everyone’s DVD collection. A powerful and inspired production about a great American and his special place in history as the pilot of a legendary aircraft, the North American P51 Mustang. We are rapidly losing our Greatest Generation and soon we will no longer have a human connection to one of the most perilous, yet triumphant, times in our nations history. Watch this DVD with your children and teach them compassion and appreciation for the men, women, and aircraft of WWII. Our history books will never tell an emotional story like this!

Excellent, just excellent. Good production, stunning flight scenes, captures the emotion of the family involved and the romance of the aircraft. I’ve shown this to many acquaintances, many who have no particular interest in WWII history or aircraft, and all find it rewarding. Make it a part of your collection.

Hands down the best video of it’s kind EVER. Someone has FINALLY captured the emotional reasons why we appreciate these machines that without which, history and all that we know today would not be the same. The irony is, that as the numbers of men who piloted the Mustang in defence of world freedom are rapidly dwindling, the Mustang community slowly grows through the tireless efforts of enthusiasts who restore, preserve and cherrish them. The surviving Mustangs will, other than memories, be the remaining legacy of the brave young men who flew them. And that could be their greatest and most fitting victory of all. A hugely emotional tribute to man and machine that everyone should see.

This is a great video paying tribute to the P-51 and the men who flew them, which was fine with me. So much is owed to those planes and pilots for the part they played in winning the war against Nazi Germany. America should NEVER forget the heroes of the USAAF of WW2.
This video is a sentimental look at the restoration of a P-51 and the affect it had on a combat veteran and his family.
