As a screenwriter, Shane Black made millions of dollars from screenplays for the big-budget action movies Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout, among others. With his directing debut Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, Black mocks and undercuts every cliche he once helped to invent. While fleeing from the cops, small time hood Harry Lockhart (Robert Downey Jr., Wonder Boys) stumbles into an acting audition–and does so well he gets taken to Hollywood, where–pursuing a girl he loved in high school (foxy Michelle Monaghan, North Country)–he gets caught up in twisty murder mystery. His only chance of getting out alive is a private detective named Gay Perry (Val Kilmer, Wonderland, The Doors), who sidelights as a consultant for movies. No plot turn goes untweaked by Black’s clever, witty script, and Downey, Kilmer, and Monaghan clearly have a ball playing their screwball variations on action movie stereotypes. There’s nothing profound about Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, but it brings back wicked mischief to a genre that all often takes itself too seriously. –Bret Fetzer

Dont let the casting fool you…Kilmer can act but anything with Robert Downey jr is bound to be empty cotton candy fodder. The story is non existant, the acting woody, the script useless.

This movie does not deserve a look at all.

I really wont decend into the habit of rating films just because of well know actors are in them as those said actors have you focus on them instead of the movie it’self and thus we rank the film based on the actors’ reputations instead of the quality of the film.

    My Verdict: CRAP Film.

I order Kiss Kiss Bang Bang witn Letters From Ima Jima on Hd Dvd back in December. When the product arrived I was very dissapointed! The Letters From Ima Jima was “New” as described, the Kiss Kiss Bang Bang was not. It was a used copy re-packaged to sell as new! I couldn’t belive it. I called customer support and the apologized for what happened. They agreed to send me another copy of the movie. So what happens when the next one arrives? Its used and resealed as well, at this point i’m pissed off! Not only do the think I’m a fool but they are clearly doing a bait and switch. So I call customer support again, they give me the ring aournd on how they would never do such a thing. Even though I have evidence in my hands. To make things short they sent another copy to me and guess what, same deal its a used copy made to look like its new.

Now on this end of things I’m very unsatisfied. I sent all three copys back and made a complaint. I have of now not recived a refund or apoligy for this. They clearly practice this offen with the way they are dealing with me. Even the customer support guy claimed this was a common complaint. I just want my full refund foe the movies. Sell your supposedly “New” Hd Dvds to some

Wow! If they had left the “F” word out of this movie, there wouldn’t have been much dialog!!!! Could have been great, but our poor ears were cringing! Not even funny. What a disappointment. There are a lot better comedies out there.

This movie features trashy, unlikeable characters, juvenile jokes, sophomoric dialog, lots of t&a, an unbelievable plotline and little else. It is one of those movies where you keep checking your watch and wondering when it will be over. A waste of the talents of Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer. I will agree with another reviewer who said the cinematography was good. Director of cinematography: Michael Barrett.

I thought this was going to be a great movie. I love Robert Downey Junior and Val Kilmer. The first scene really caught my attention, then it went completely downhill from there. I understood what was going on, but I thought the plot was kind of dull and silly. Detective lessons? I mean, come on. I just felt like it was a little too unbelievable. I had to turn it off at the end because it just dragged on so long and I was falling asleep. Maybe I missed some sweet ending that would have made the whole thing worthwhile, but it wasn’t worth it at that point.
