WrestleMania XXV was a spectacular event. I was one of the 70,000+ in attendance in Reliant Stadium on April 5th, 2009.

I am happy WWE are adding the Tag Team Unification match as that got the crowd pumped right off the bat.

MITB V is one of the best in the entire series of MITB Ladder matches at WrestleMania. Kofi and Shelton were innovative and gave breathtaking performances.

The only thing I really did not like about the show is Kid Rock’s performance and then the diva battle royal. It was a waste bringing back the past divas because I never got to see their faces.

I was very surprised the legends especially Ricky Steamboat performed so well with Jericho. WWE needs to make a Steamboat DVD ASAP!

Matt and Jeff gave us an entertaining extreme rules match with some cool spots. It wasn’t as intense and brutal as I thought it could be but it is still good enough.

JBL retire in great fashion with The Joker, I mean, Rey Mysterio defeating him in record time for the Intercontinental Title. Bradshaw had a good run as one of the most hated men in wrestling.

The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels is the GREATEST WrestleMania match of ALL time – bar none. And I will stand by that statement until something in the future tops it. I have seen all the classic matches and legendary performances from 25 Manias and none have captured my imagination and had me on the edge of my seat like Taker/Michaels!

This match had everything I could ask for in a wrestling match – submissions, counters, high risk spots, psychology (HBK using old tactics to gain physical & psychological edge) and a finishing stretch for the ages! This is storytelling at its finest. The DVD is worth this match alone. It is my favorite match ever.

The triple threat that immediately had to follow that classic had tough competition to say the least. Edge/Cena/Big Show gave an entertaining match, however. I wouldn’t say this is a main event classic but very enjoyable.

Steve Austin, arguably the greatest WWE superstar of all time gives his final farewell with an old beer bash! THE AUSTIN ERA HAS … ENDED :(

Ok, a lot of people complained about the Triple H vs. Randy Orton main event. I’m going to be honest here – Randy Orton vs. John Cena should have been the main event but we got the McMahon storyline that McMahon obviously wanted Triple H involved in.

    I honestly don’t think this is a bad Mania main event. We’ve seen worse. Hello Sid/Hogan, Hart/Yoko & Hogan/Yoko, Sid/Taker, Cena/JBL, HHH/Jericho and Lesnar/Goldberg.

This match was intense and both men played the DQ/count-out stipulation well. The crowd really wasn’t into it from the start which didn’t help create a better buzz but the action is still good.

Who I say this is a WrestleMania worthy main event? In hindsight, it is not worthy but beforehand the build was one of the best this era has ever seen. I would say Triple H vs. Randy Orton is a very good match but could have been great if the match were no holds barred and they came out swinging fists, blood, crowd fighting and interference. I am going to look at the positives because that’s what I prefer to do and I enjoyed this match.

Overall, I’d give this 25th edition of WrestleMania a thumbs up!

It had a very good undercard with MITB, Hardy/Hardy and Jericho/Legends. Taker/HBK is the greatest Mania match ever. And while the diva bit is terrible and the main events weren’t epic, they did deliver something memorable and entertaining. I had fun being there and can’t wait to re-watch this DVD and the Hall of Fame Ceremony. Extras also include highlights from the first 24 WrestleManias.
