UFC 103 brings back “The Phenom” Vitor Befort who won the heavyweight tournament back at UFC 12 when he was only 19 years old with his devastating lighting quick and not to mention very accurate punches. After struggling with many personal demons Vitor wasn’t the same and the critics doubted we’d ever see the Vitor of old again. A few years later a mature Vitor began reinventing himself with the help of his trainers and legend Randy Couture, Vitor is back and dangerous as ever to go after the middleweight title. But first he has to get by former middleweight champ and rising light-heavyweight contender Rich Franklin. The co-main event is a heavyweight battle between legend striker and Pride Open Weight GP champ Cro-Cop Vs. newcomer Junior Dos Santos who has knockout power and is training under the Nogueira brothers. Also returning to the UFC is Frank Trigg who takes on the always tough fellow wrestler Josh Koscheck. And U.K. slugger Paul Daley makes his debut against Martin Kampman in a standup war that is awesome, Tyson Griffin and Hermes Franca also slug it out in the first fight of the main event. All the fights on the main card are action packed with none going to decision, plus there are 13 fights total. Most of the prelim fights are exciting plus you get the countdown show, weigh-ins, behind the scenes, and the Rogan pst fight interviews. I recommend this DVD to any fans of UFC/MMA who are looking for exciting fights with great finishes.

When I saw the news, I was thrilled. Vitor Belfort is BACK! What a treat for UFC 103. My other thought was that he was taking on a man who’d chalked up one too many Main Events, Rich Franklin. Back when he was 19, this young man from Brazil brought some very fast hands that thrilled UFC fans, young and old! Tra Telligman, Scott Ferrozzo and Tank Abbott were names on his first 3 UFC battles, until he ran into Couture. And even after that, he blasted a legend like Wanderlei Silva 44 seconds! What couldn’t this man do? Well, eventually he had his ups and downs, like most great fighters do. And before this, his last UFC fight was UFC 51, a close Split decision loss to Tito Ortiz. And his fight before this? He cranked out Matt Lindland in 37 seconds…Vitor was back! But how about against a man like Rich Franklin? Franklin, too, beat Wanderlei Silva by Unanimous decision in his fight before this. But Franklin was also known for beating Evan Tanner to earn Middleweight Championship, knocking out Nate Quarry in highlight fashion, and ultimately crumpling to an Anderson Silva that has become a legend in the sport. So in a 3 round Catchweight scrap at 195, who’s going to prove it one more time? And hopefully without giving it away, I predicted EXACTLY what would happen in this fight!

Co-Main Event would be 2 Heavyweight strikers. Junior dos Santos isn’t afraid to throw down. Just ask Fabricio Werdum, and Stefan Struve. They both got smeared pretty quickly by the power of Junior dos Santos. And what the heck? Give Mirko Cro Cop his chance again and see if he can take out the young buck. He can still punch and kick, so let him be the Co-Main Event against Junior dos Santos in UFC 103.

And to think that Frank Trigg made a return to the UFC as well, against Josh Koscheck.

I think this is the 1st card to have 13 fights! That’s pretty cool. Hey, I enjoyed them. And I will list them below.

    Disk 2: Preliminary fights:

Rob Emerson vs. Raphael dos Anjos: Both of these guys are looking for the W. Crafty leg kicks and an excellent game plan get one man exactly what he wants, in the way of a unanimous decision.

Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Igor Pokrajac: HEY! THE JANITOR is back. His last fight was in UFC 44, and he’s here to take on a man from Cro Cop’s team. This was cool to see, and a unanimous decision was awarded in the end.

Eliot Marshall vs. Jason Brilz: If you had to designate 1 boring fight, then this might have to be it. Both guys came in undefeated, and had brilliant ground games that would probably stalemate the other. Turned into a half-way decent striking match, like I said, not exactly the BEST fight on the card. But with both guys undefeated, a split decision was given after all was said and done.

Rick Story vs. Brian Foster: This was a crazy scrap! And it got brutal until one of them got submitted in the 2nd! WOW!!

Rafaello Oliveira vs. Nik Lentz: Two new lightweights ready to get it on. And one of them wins the unanimous decision with a good performance.

Jim Miller vs. Steve Lopez: Good scrap, until an unfortunate ending screeched it to a halt in the 2nd round.

Drew McFedries vs. Tomasz Drwal: Two HEAVY-HANDED hitters ready to make it a show! McFedries is coming off a quick 37 second KO of Professor X, and Drwal took care of Mike Ciesnolevicz in less than a round too! And when the 2 get tired of throwing heavy hands, submissions always work, as it does in the 2nd round. Great scrap!

Efrain Escudero vs. Cole Miller: Efrain takes a fight since his win in TUF 8, while Cole Miller has submitted the likes of Jorge Gurgel and Junie Browning. This was a surprise TKO in my mind, but it was a good one at that, and it happened in the 1st round.

    Disk 2: Main Card

Tyson Griffin vs. Hermes Franca. All I can think is freakin’ Franca, sucker comes in not making weight, hoping to make this a contest, while the rap on Griffin is that he always goes to decisions. WELL, this one doesn’t! It is a shocking KO in the 2nd round, and I was personally happy when the loser was cut from the UFC roster!

Josh Koscheck vs. Frank Trigg: People were glad to see Trigg back, but I hope they could appreciate the outcome as well. Pretty quick 1st round TKO for the winner.

Martin Kampmann vs. Paul Daley: WOW! This was a treat, especially the way the one guy handled the other. 1st round TKO, still can’t wait to see both of these guys again!

Mirko Cro Cop vs. Junior dos Santos: All I can say is GOOD! It ends mid-way through the 3rd round by TKO, and I’m fine with that.

Rich Franklin vs. Vitor Belfort: What did Rich Franklin say? “Vitor has fast hands…SO WHAT!” Yeah, so what. Not so sure he thinks that now, but so what, who cares? I DID! And I LOVED IT!!! Punk needed to lose by 1st round KO, and I love it, I think it’s hilarious, and I’m going to watch this fight at least once a week!!

Hey, like I said, this has 13 fights, so what more do you want? How about a countdown show? How about some other goodies that make this DVD easy to appreciate!!
