I am addicted to this show and have every episode saved on my two HD DVRs. I am expecting to get these episodes on Blu Ray so that I can erase my DVRs to make room for the second season. I do want to see the deleted scenes. I, especially, want to see the interview with Terry Goodkind.

I give the show 4 stars but it was filmed in HD can be downloaded on iTunes in HD so I think it should be coming out on Blu ray that is why I’m giving this 2 stars. Can’t wait for the second season to start up!

First off I have read the entire series (starting from the original short story) this series is ‘based’ on and I would feel completely insulted if Terry Goodkind was endorsing this show. It is understood that not everything can translate from novel to television or even movie but regardless there are some things that are a complete disgrace to the series.

For instance, there are no ‘Seeker Rules’, the rules that Zedd keeps spouting off are a twisted reference to the ‘Wizard Rules’ which are a crucial part of the entire series.

Secondly Richard never recieves training from Zedd about being the Seeker, anyone who was read even one book knows that you cannot train a true Seeker, they find thier own path. Everyone else along for the ride is merely that, along for the ride, merely used as the Seekers sounding board.

Third the characterization, let alone the acting, is horrible beyond even fun B type movies. The guy playing Richard has virutally nothing of the character in him, let alone Kahlan or Zedd. Plus where are the mannerisms that make the characters who they are, I do not recall Zedd spouting out one ‘Zounds’. The worse disaster in the characterization had to be Adie (mind you I have not read the novels in about 2 years) but I always pictured her as a black lady from the book discreptions. The actress on top of that was horrible considering how much of a pivotal side character Adie is, and doesn’t even hint on her she copes with her blindness through her magic, instead of feeling around like the actress does.

And what about Chase and the Wardens??? That was handled horribly too, which annoys me because Chase was a good character.

And where is the history???? Darken Rahl not having burns on half his body? Where are the Mord Sith another group of pivotal characters??? Richard’s mom may or may not be alive??? And seriously the breaking of the border like that?? It was a key bonding point between Richard and Kahlan as well as where Richard discovered the actual cost of using the Sword of Truth which is like some retarded power up now in a video game. Confessors being raised by the Sisters of the Light as well as people being freed from thier touch if they die?????

This show is horrible, the only things actually being used from the novels are the names. It would not surprise me if the people wasting thier time making this series decide to make Stephen King’s novels into a group of children’s television show. Everything from the acting, swordplay to special effects reeks of some freshman in high school’s attempt at making a television show while blatantly stealing someone else’s concept and warping it into a rated G televsion show.

The first few are fairly close to the book story, and I was fairly excited by how they did them, particularly the fight scenes. After that, just pretend you’ve never seen the books.

I have been an avid reader and well just basically hooked on the the sword of truth series for a number of years. I was really excited when I had heard there would be Television series made on the books. Oh boy was I dissapointed and I normally don’t go in for writing reviews but I couldn’t help myself. Really a shame that someone would want to destroy something that was so great. The TV series looks really low budget and very very very boring. The actors, well I guess they play their part but just together with the storyline (in the books exceptional)and the cheapness it comes off terribly.

One very dissapointed fan of the books!!!!! What a shame.
