This movie was horribly stupid. A sleigh that runs on Christmas spirit? A whole bunch of candy and crap on spaghetti? It sucked. This movie, when it comes to video, should not even be rented. If given as a gift, break it or burn it. It’s just not worth seeing.

ok this movie is pretty bad. i suggest if you must see it wait till it comes out on video and dvd, then rent it. i didn’t like it because they spent hardly any time at the north pole, so you don’y know much about the north pole. it just falls flat. i do love will ferrel, but not in this movie.

Who would want to see a movie about a human elf? I guess a lot of people. But I didn’t laugh once. But a packed crow in a theater did (minus me). This may be the type of movie, that you would laugh a lot in the theatres, but not laugh much at home. Let me start off by saying, that I don’t see a lot of movies in the theatres, the last one before this was Finding Nemo. But I think the movie critics are hyporcites, and I think that is, because they liked this one, but give a lot of comedy movies like Scooby Doo and the Cat in the Hat bad reviews. When the movie opens, a human baby sneaks into Santa’s bag at in orphange. He was born to parents, but his mother put in the orphange, and then died. The movie didn’t explain what caused her death. At the North Pole, Santa discovers the baby, and decides to keep the baby. And is raised by Papa Elf (Bob Newhart) and is named Buddy. But the baby grows bigger than the other elves, and doesn’t know that he is a human. Then Papa Elf tells Buddy (Will Ferrell), the truth, he was adopted, and his real father is Walter (Honeymoon in Vegas’ James Caan). And that now a lot of kids are know not believing in Santa Clause, because it is thier parents who give them thier Christmas presents, all the years they have been the ones. Edward Asner plays Santa Clause, and then Buddy deicdes to leave the North Pole, and find his father, who works in the Empire State Copmany, and works for a book company. Walter doesn’t know that he has another son, that is about 30 years old. He has a son about eight years old named Michael (Daniel Tay) an has since remarried, and is on the naughty list at the north pole. Kids might liked this movie, and then again, they won’t like the talk about that kids don’t believe in Santa, and it really thier parents who give htem Christmas presents. If you are going to take the kids to see a Christmas movie, this will be the one, since the other Christmas movie “Bad Santa” is a Christmas movie, but is rated R.

Let me start this off by saying, I dont feel the need to post reviews normally but had to in this case. While I love the classics like “Frosty the Snowman”,”Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”, the movie “Elf” is no classic. This is perhaps the biggest waste of time one could have. I can honestly say I have lost all respect for Will Ferrell after seeing this movie and one must question James Caan’s ability to judge a good script. The lone bright spot in the whole movie was the acting and actual singing by Zooey Deschanel who has a great voice. I expect her to have a good film career in spite of making this bomb of a movie. To be sure, I love Christmas movies as much as anyone and picked this up thinking it would be a good start to the holiday season. I WAS WRONG. This movie is one of the worst I have ever seen. I am shocked that a studio actually spent good money to make this film. If you thought Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’ movie “Gigli” was a bomb this movie may actually be worse. In fact if you said for 1 million dollars name 5 movies I have seen in my life that are worse, I am not sure I could. In short, dont waste your money. If you are a sadist and want to punish yourself, your spouse and your family, rent it. At least you can bring it back to Blockbuster if you decide to shut it off. It was so bad that I started to think I should have addressed that 95 minute root canal visit to the dentist that is overdue. Yes friends it was that bad.

I was so disappointed with this movie.
I really like Will Ferrell, but this movie didn’t do him justice. This movie is so cheesy! The beginning drags on and the rest of the movie just falls flat. The only funny parts are what you have seen in previews.
Save your money.
