A short film adaptation of Kurt Vonnegut’s Harrison Bergeron, 2081 depicts a dystopian future in which, thanks to the 212th Amendment to the Constitution and the unceasing vigilance of the United States Handicapper General, everyone is “finally equal….” The strong wear weights, the beautiful wear masks and the intelligent wear earpieces that fire off loud noises to keep them from taking unfair advantage of their brains. It is a poetic tale of triumph and tragedy about a broken family, a brutal government, and an act of defiance that changes everything.
Featuring an original score performed by the world-renowned Kronos Quartet (Requiem for a Dream) and narration by Academy Award Nominee Patricia Clarkson (Far From Heaven, Goodnight and Good Luck), 2081 stars James Cosmo (Braveheart, Trainspotting), Julie Hagerty (Airplane!, What About Bob?) and Armie Hammer (The Social Network).

this short video is very powerful….requires more than one viewing to fully realize the nuances. I purchased this videa based on a recommendation of a trusted reviewer and found it to be too close to reality if the political direction of the past year continues for much longer.

I have been waiting for this DVD to come out for over 7 months now. A short 25 minute film, very true to Kurt Vonnegut’s novel Harrison Bergeron. An amazing cast, beautifully filmed and a must watch. However, I must warn you. You WILL be frustrated when it ends – craving more! So suspenseful where the film ends, leaving you begging to know what happens next (I guess you can just read the book if you’d like to know what happens next). All I can say is PLEASE make this into a full-length movie! I watched in rapture the entire time. This movie will move you (I had goosebumps the whole time!)

I thoroughly enjoyed watching 2081. What I can’t wrap my head around was why they had to change so many things from the original story. The movie is fine on its own… I am glad they didn’t call it Harrison Bergeron because that would have been a travesty.

I must say that I am throughly happy with how this video captures Vonnegut. IT really does almost perfectly mimic the story. I do tend to like 2081′s version of Harrison Bergeron just because of the speech that he gives is remarkably well thought out and well put together.
Overall, for not having deviated from the actually story line too much like many of the movies that are put out today this is a high quality film worth watching.

If you are really aware of today’s political situation this can be the direction it is heading…will it ever get to this point?? That is very possible or worse..
