Aliens, time travelers, and ESPers… I used to believe that none of these could possibly exist. But now everything I once believed to be the subject of TV specials, comic books and an over-active imagination have all come tumbling into my life! And apparently they’ve all gathered because of Haruhi! The appearance of the fantastical beings is occurring right under Haruhi’s nose and to make matters worse, she’s getting bored! And when Haruhi gets bored, it can lead to some full blown trouble. In order to deal with her boredom, I’m going to have to escape from homicidal classmates, a grey world filled with gigantic beings bent on its destruction, and win a game of baseball. And what does Snow White have to do with all of this? Limited Edition includes: Haruhi DVD Vol 2 with Special Variant Cover, Double-sided Pencil board, Iron-on Haruhi Cosplay Armband and Bouken Desho Desho CD. Genre: Comedy/Action/Mystery/Sci-Fi.When Kyon, the put-upon narrator of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya asks the title character why she’s obsessed with time-travelers, aliens, and espers, she replies indignantly, “What kind of fun does a normal high school student have?” Haruhi’s idea of fun doesn’t jibe with Kyon’s, but that doesn’t matter. She’s not only nuttier than he imagined, she’s infinitely more powerful. Itsuki, the esper, tells Kyon that the existence of the entire universe may depend on Haruhi’s whims. When she gets upset, dark gaps open between dimensions, haunted by shinji (ghostly giants) whom Itsuki and other espers must destroy. As the story progresses and more evidence of Haruhi’s powers accumulates, Kyon wonders if he’s having nightmares or protecting the world from destruction. His uncertainty adds an unsettling note to the off-beat mixture of comedy and fantasy that have made Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya so popular. The Limited Edition includes a second disc with the first episodes in their original broadcast order (in Japanese with English subtitles), an armband for the SOS club, an iron-on decal, a small pencil board, and a Bouken Desho Desho CD. (Rated 13 and older: cartoon violence, risqué humor) –Charles Solomon

The first disk was rather odd. Much of it didn’t make any sense while other parts of it were simply confusing. The second installment had a couple of pretty clever twists and at least one laugh-out-loud scene. Someone was working overtime with their third year philosophy texts but it is worthy of watching.

I am now wondering if they can keep it up for awhile so I guess I’ll be ordering each volume as it comes up.

Though the fan service is a bit heavy handed.

I have no complaints about the product itself, but Amazon sent it to me in this weird curved box that bent the box.

The box had dented. Because I want to ventilate grievances to amazon, a letter has not been opened yet.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is one of my favorite anime series. It has plenty of comedy but isn’t without it’s serious moments. This anime is based on a series of novels, but if you think books are boring, don’t think for a minute that this will be too!

The second disc on the limited edition has the episodes in broadcast order rather than chronological order. (The regular edition only has chronological order). I think it’s best to watch in broadcast order because otherwise the climax is in the middle instead of the end. It can be a little confusing that way, but if you watch it a second time then you pick up on extra nuances.

Anyway, I wholeheartedly reccomend The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
