A high school guy goes to live with 5 women who have their own dreams. We follow the trials, tribulations, joy, and heartbreaks in this Anime comedy/drama. This series is way too bland for my tastes. I guess their’s a demand for it, there must be as this and “Sister Princess” and “Love Hina, and “Tenchi Muyo, and blah blah blah, etc. are all the same. This one isn’t as good as most in the sub-genre. And I don’t really recommend it much at all.

Hardly a cosplay or such, but have three plastic cases worth of all kinds of light hearted, fun, and (yes) harem based anime. I don’t by far own all such theme titles, but I’ve found over the years that the genre, for moi anyway, is filled with good, light humor.

If you look past the obvious base concept each type series is based upon. One guy, too many girls, the threat of the religious community going rave mad. That sorta snuff. =^^=

So, such turns to why I got this anime, box format and all, after I completed Sister Princess, and while still collecting the new Ah My Goddess! series, having got the latest volume at the same time I got this one.

And so, my review after sitting through a full day of watching it all. My mind is mushy at the moment for bear with moi. =^^=

At first, I watched the opening TV episode, and saw it as a bit too fast paced for what I prefered for an opening to a series. The total wackiness though got me laughing almost immediately, getting the gist of the series all but outright. Still, the angst at the end of the first eppie was a bit rushed. It made me worry a bit for the rest of the discs.

By the time I was done though, I felt justified for the price I spent for this box set. At times a bit awkward. Far too much time gasping for oxygen. I got what I wanted, after looking at this set on a shelf long enough.

Overall, it’s a fun, light hearted series for those that like ‘exactly’ this kind of harem anime. Some can be a bit serious. Others are somewhat better, or other cases worse, than this title. It’s by no means a uber high class anime, but it’s a step below that. More than enough for my pallate. =^^=

Naruto fans more than likely won’t like this series, unless you happen to like zany stuff, which is saturated in this series. Mostly, it’s a harem type fanbase that draws this series. And while it’s a few years old now, newcomers looking for the right kind of anime to follow up on newer stuff, and such in their collections, won’t do wrong here.

The obligatory stuff is in here for those that know what I mean. (Swimsuit eppie, heartpang eppie, ect..) But it’s all well within bounds of good taste, again for those that prefer this stuff.

The OVAs though were both wierd and a touch better liked in a way. The first eppie is essentially the first eppie in the TV series. After that, it’s like Tenchi OVA and Tenchi Universe is to each other. Both sets have the good and iffy sides to them, but overall, I can recommend with satisfaction to this series.

The only thing I would prefer from future harem series, is at least a better attempt in justification of such situations. But, it’s a minor groan at best here. Since I have ‘several’ titles of the genre in my collection, I have little reason to grumble.

Of the series, what I ‘do’ miss, what Sister Princess had, was a cast speak section. Even the box set deserved a bit more options to enjoy. Still, overall the set and series are worth my vote.

Mind you, this is from an open mind, not from one that wanted to be a critic. This set is to be enjoyed. Not to be cynical with. This set is fun, nuff said. =^^=

happy lesson is a show about a guy who’s pretty female teachers all decide to be his mother. it is a cute show that has its moments. there is not much to it other than that. when it is done it dosent feel finnised. i guess the ending feels a bit rushed. but it was funny and cute, and an easy to enjoy anime.

Right. Consumer alert: if you get the Teachers Pet Collection you do NOT require the Mama Mia OVA disc. The product description does not make it clear that this set has all 14 episodes + the 3 OVA.

    OVA 1 is a rehash of episode 1 – at a glance I couldn’t see the difference.

OVA 2 is the obligatory Beach Trip (the cast even take the micky of this fact themselves)

OVA 3 is fill-in info some of which is slightly at odds with the televised episodes.

The only additional material in Mama Mia are some poor production sketches on the disc and a 2 sided ‘poster’ of less than A4 size.

I watched the whole thing through in 3 nights which may have spoilt it for me (see my thoughts below). Perhaps 1 episode a week may work better for you.

The story. We are thrown in the middle of the story. How Chitoses’ situation arose is slowly revealed over the course of the series. Each character gets an episode based on them. So it’s a bit confusing at the start and took some time to get used to the style. The animation drifts (spasms actually) from ‘normal’ to ‘crazy / cartoony’ as situations dictate.

What did I specifically not like? Chitose (as another reviewer pointed out) does actually have a spine, yet he has let 5 teachers gatecrash his house, take a bedroom each leaving him to sleep on the sofa! All of which destroyed his desire for a quiet life. He does raise the issue, but nothing changes. He won’t actually share a bed with any of the girls (oops, women) because they are a) his teachers and b) his surrogate mothers.

Another point: Who, at 17 in high school, had teachers in their early 20s? Not me, matey.

No, this series seems half baked and just as fulfilling no matter which aspect is considered: character depth, scenarios, story direction etc. When you’re 1/2 way through and wondering ‘Why, What & Where to?’ that’s when it gets 3 stars.
