The third season of the popular shonen (boy’s) show Dragon Ball Z continues the adventures of Goku and Gohan on Namek, Piccolo’s home planet. Goku, who has been in a regeneration tank since the end of season 2, recovers just in time to challenge the sniggering Frieza, one of the most grating villains in anime history. Having defeated Gohan, Krillin, Vegeta, and Piccolo, Frieza takes on Goku in a protracted duel. When he begins to doubt his ability to overcome Goku, Frieza destroys the core of Namek, ensuring it will explode in a matter of minutes. Enraged by the death of Krillin and so many others, Goku transforms into the one thing Frieza fears: a Super Saiyan, a legendary warrior who appears once every 1,000 years. As the seconds tick away, the two most powerful individuals in the universe duke it out. While they’re beating the soba out of each other, King Kai hatches a plan to use the Dragon Balls of Earth and Namek to ensure a happy ending. As the battle between Goku and Frieza intensifies, the kicks and punches fly, producing titanic explosions. But the duel goes on for more than 20 episodes: With only a limited budget and crude special-effects techniques at their disposal, the filmmakers have to recycle footage endlessly. In February 2007, FUNimation’s “remastered” DBZ Season One boxset saw its release to DVD. Touted as a complete remastering, this release was produced in a (cropped) widescreen presentation with a “remastering” process by Video Post & Transfer in Texas. Despite FUNimation’s claims, the set is indeed cropped (missing approximately 20% of its vertical resolution while only gaining approximately 5% of its horizontal resolution), it is not remastered frame-by-frame from its original film, and the color has been adjusted. Of note is the inclusion of a new audio track, featuring FUNimation’s traditional voice track (with minor line alterations where appropriate) played alongside the original Japanese musical score. I can’t believe they would not add the spanish (Intertrack Mexico) audio track. The ultimate uncut series did have it, why would they leave it out this time. In you tube comparisons, it has been voted the best after the original. I will not buy any of this series unless they re-release them with the proper languages.

this is the worst season of dbz, and i love dbz but i have to say this one sucks! its just trash talk from freiza and little outbursts of angry fighting. it is boring and was not enjoyable , with one exception, when goku started smacking freiza around like a hoe

The showdown with Frieza . well , Goku fights Frieza , and fights and fights and fights , it should end here , but he continues , and fights and fights and fillers and fights and fillers an……. you know the drill . but if they continue releasing it this cheap , why not buy it ?
If you are frustrated like me from the filler episodes in this season , start buying the manga. Read volume 12 . it starts with the last five minutes on Namek . and it’s not as boringly long as the anime’s .
Same fold-in box of six cd’s . but this time you get six episodes on the first three cd’s , and five episodes on the remaining three. The extras are textless songs and trailers.
Isn’t time for funimation to release Dragon Ball cheap box sets ?

people are complaining a lot…….i say that super saiyan goku remastered, redifined, in widescreen, and in hd is something worth waiting for. but nonetheless, i can’t wait!
