Very nice for the $$. Excellent definition for mono. Nowhere near 3D surround, but with the volume set at a comfortable conversation level while near the speaker, we could still make out plenty of detail 30 feet away, (and by a pool pump no less). Excellent range through brick walls. Good range on the remote. Got it today and am ordering another now. Will try stereo and dual mono to see what’s best, then I’ll update my review. Only complaint is “sub”woofer. But I’m a bass player and drummer, so I REALLY dig low end. I boosted the lows on Winamp’s eq, turned down the volume a tad, and the low end became pretty passable for me. The bright blue l.e.d. is soothing. Hope it doesn’t draw bugs. VERY pleased at this price. Only other questions are will same transmitter run multiple speakers? If so, will one transmitter allow setting the speakers to left or right, or is it just mono? And, will one remote control multiple speakers? We’ll know in a couple of days. Searched hard for a better price. (MSRP is $200.) Most were $15-$20 higher. Someone had it for $280!! I found a few cheaper, at most after shipping was $8 lower. Now certainly no offense intended, but they were companies I would probably never have occasion to use again. The ease and proven dependability of Amazon is most worth it. (Here’s the aforementioned update.) After going stereo, the sound was even better, but the range decreased significantly. I didn’t want to fool with tech support. I have NO patience. So I got an audio extension cable, moved the transmitter and speakers about 15 feet closer…. problem solved. PEACE!!

I like to sit out on my screened in porch on Fridays and work. I enjoy listening to music and the wildlife. I had a set of Acoustic Research wireless speakers (900MHz) and they kept losing signal and cutting out all the time, pretty anoying. I tried this unit because of the different transmitter frequency range and other reviews. The speaker is about 35′ from the transmitter and through walls. So far I’ve been out for about 4 hrs and not once has it cut out. I like the dual inputs on the transmitter, I can plug the Sony Video Walkman into the minijack and I have the stereo output plugged into the RCA jacks on the rear.
Pros:
- Sound quality is pretty good, not Bose, but not $$$$.
- Looks nice and easy to move around. The blue “mood” light is kind of neat for outdoors.
- No interference with other wireless things. We have 3 computers running wireless and have not experienced a blip with this unit running. Also cordless phone runs at 5.8GHz, so not a problem
- Bass is better than the ARs I replaced.
- Like the remote to control volume without having to get up to turn down volume as with the ARs.
- No issues with volume increase/decrease (except for variations album to album). Wish these things had a way to control those variations.
- It will play stereo, but you have to buy two complete units, wish they sold additional speaker separately. Right now sounds OK, so not sure I’ll make the investment.
Cons:
- Like the other reviewers, it could use a little more volume range. Not bad for porch, but not for loud partying.
- Doesn’t come as a stereo system.

Having previously owned two sets of wireless 900 MHz speakers (both using plug-in adapter and one also battery operated) these speakers are heads above the 900 MHz option. I haven’t had them long enough to comment on the battery life, but the sound is soooo much better. This is especially true if you enjoy the bass end of the spectrum.
Most impressive is the ability of the speakers to lock in on a frequency and then deliver uninterrupted sound. No popping or dropping in-and-out of the frequency as with previous speakers. I am thrilled with the portability and the ease of connecting to an mp3 player, using your own standard cable. The sound delivered from my hookup (cord provided) to my stereo system is very good, both in the house and outside. It also doesn’t seem to matter if you are using the adapter or the batteries.
The only limits are in the range and the volume. Loudness will not rattle the neighbors, but if your source is turned up enough, it’s more than I need, even with the mp3. The range is not as good as advertised, but it does go through walls and the distance is acceptable. You’ll easily be able to tell if you are too far from the source, with the speakers going into silence for several seconds at a time. I move it about 8-10 ft. closer and have great reception.

We have multiple uses for these speakers – the reason that we purchased them was a quick solution for two public events where we wanted to avoid wiring issues. We looked at what is commercially available and wanting something with absolutely NO WIRES and thought we would give these a try. Realizing that you need two of these to get stereo with ordered 2 units.
Overall the construction of speakers is substantial (though in plastic) – 6 Size 6 batteries are needed to power each speaker w/out AC adapter(incl).
Hook up into your Stereo / iPod/iTouch/iPhone / DVD / CD / Computer is a snap with a mini stereo And rt. & left phono-plugs (typical 3ft set included) Either system plugs into the speaker’s RF send unit which is AC powered. Line out is best – or manage the output of your stereo source to avoid over amplification in front of the FD distribution.
Next you run off to the speakers to turn them on w/ either AC adapter (supplied) or by batteries (purchased separately). Each speaker can be left / mono / right channel set and comes with its own IR remote control. Turn on the speaker’s power and adjust the volume with either the remote control or push buttons on each speaker. Each speaker also has an LED blue light – useful to keep people from kicking them in the dark corners.
One speaker IR remote will control multiple speakers – just point and control – note: Bright sunlight can reduce the IR control distance (typical of IR units – count on ~ 0-15+ ft) The units are water (and wine/beer) resistant by design.
Overall the sound is pretty good – not concert or studio monitor quality but actually pretty decent. Since the design is made for down casting (speaker faces down with sound cone below to reflect the sound out) they each broadcast sound ~150 degrees on two sides with the structure baffling the other areas a bit. With two speakers strategically placed in just about any environment you can get a good stereo coverage.
We didn’t push the length from the RF sender unit base to see how far they will broadcast before failing – but have had good success line-of-sight at ~ 60 ft. We’ve had no interference from other units that use this same frequency – other then initializing them by turning them off and on again to set the (automated) channels.
If your looking for a versatile, low cost remote (no wire) speaker system these may work for you. The base and high end is workable – we had one opera sequence which cracked consistently on one point of a soprano high end rendition – but the belly dancing, rock, western et. al. music laying in the general non-ear piercing or hugely WA-WA low ranges plays great.
Wishes? Instead of having a remote “In” mini -stereo jack (std) on the speaker it would be nice if they had an out jack for headphones ….
Conclusion … If you want something that’s easy, flexible, with descent sound for not too much these may work for you. If you’re into absolute sound fidelity it might be better to keep looking – or better think about sticking with wires

This system isn’t as loud as you might want to Party Like a Rock Star, but it delivers enough sound to keep you rocking the party. It’s not a thumping bass, but I love this little system. Lot’s of people over for the fourth and all summer by our pool. I didn’t want another summer of continually messing with CD’s, jumping up to change the radio channel when commercials came on (I hate commercials!), and trying to keep up with everyone’s musical tastes. I also was tired of messing with large boomboxes that are so heavy to carry.
Over the 4th weekend, I successfully streamed music from my iphone, XM radio on my computer, CDs in my computer, [...]; Itunes playlists, movie DVDs in my computer, etc. I love that you don’t have to have your expensive phones/mp3s out by the pool and they can stay safely inside out of the heat and a bunch of wet people handling them.
The wireless feature worked great. If the song started cutting in and out, I just moved the unit a little closer to the house, and it worked great.
I was able to make up large playlists ahead of time, and voila, relax and enjoy, rather than constantly trying to DJ the party.
I created mixes that I thought would have something for everyone, and didn’t have one complaint. In fact, everyone agreed that it was a very cool unit! Party guests with their own mp3 player can run their playlists as well.
I also used the unit to play some relaxing music from a CD in my computer to listen to while taking a bath. Before this, for me to hear it in the bathroom, the sound volume on the computer had to be so high that it disturbed anyone trying to watch TV, etc.
I did run it occasionally on battery, but for the most part played it with the unit plugged in to electric. But it’s nice to know you can operate it where there is no power plug.
It is a tad pricey, but the overall package seems worth it to me.
The manufacturer should discount the second speaker when purchased with a first. I contacted the manufacturer about adding a second wireless speaker, and they recommended buying a second unit, as they said other wireless speakers may not work with it. I may consider that at sometime in the future, but for this year, I’m happy with my small, efficient, ultra portable DJ machine
