I bought this on a gold box deal for my mom for christmas. She could have cared less at first, but then we watched a dvd and she figured it out. The build quality is good and the speakers are heavy for their size. I wouldn’t recommend them for a large room, but for a small – medium size room, they would be pretty good for everybody but the most discerning home audio enthusiast.

I am really impressed by my speakers, thou they are at the lower end of the marked the sound is awesome and with my HK receiver they are able to make my living room sound awesome when watching a movie, listening to music, or whatever. (As a side note my living room is rather large and has 20+ foot high ceilings, so I was worried about ‘filling the space’.)

And the Amp is more than powerful enough, and I even have it turned to around the 60% level.

I would really recommend as an easy upgrade, especially for the money!

I used this system with a panasonic 50″ plasma hdtv–th80z. They are nice speakers. The subwoofer is pretty cool. The surround speakers are nice and are very clear. I matched it with an Onkyo 7.1 receiver and it makes for a nice system. Its a nice price from Amazon for this system. A good starter set…worth every penny .

To start with, I am always a little skeptical of speaker reviews. The reason for my skepticism, opinions about speaker sound quality/accuracy are so unique to each individual that I find them almost useless. So, if your still interested here is my two cents.

I’ve always considered Boston Acoustics speakers to be of audiophile quality. If, your standards are at this level, look elsewhere, If, you are a casual listener, or need a second set of surround speakers for a small room or garage then you may want to consider the MCS100MDNT surround kit.

All of the speaker boxes are a gray plastic, which is not un-attractive but here again it’s a compromise to meet a price point. The satellites surprised me with the clarity of their sound reproduction. The subwoofer on the other hand left me wanting for more punch and volume. Here is where the personal preference comes into the review process, if your taste in music or home theatre leans towards the lower frequencies then you will be disappointed.

I saw this same kit at my local Sears store on “sale” for $449.00, which shocked me because I only paid $189.00 shipped to my door. To sum up, if you can pick up this kit for under $200.00 bucks and your application is a small to medium size room then you will have yourself a bargain.
