These speakers are very solidly constructed; they are heavier than I would have imagined for such small units. One of the other reviewers said these speakers are “tinny”, and to some extent, I agree. They are short on bass response (they are not ported), but they make up for it with clear, crisp highs and good mids. I intended to use these as my surround-back speakers, but for the time being I will continue to employ my bass-reflex KLH BTF-220′s for this task. I think with time these could warm up nicely, and they would likely work very well on my patio. At this price, it’s not worth it to me to return them; I’ll keep them for future use.

You can not beat them for the price. They come with mounting brackets which were very easy to put up,long speaker wire (about 15 ft worth), hardware to install them and put out very acceptable sound that can easily be heard 25 feet from the speakers. The manual does say that if they are outside they need to be protected from direct rain (such as under the eaves). Ours are under the eaves and it did rain hard today and they are working fine, even playing actually in the rain. By the way, they are 8 ohm speakers, the description here on Amazon says 8? which I suppose is because they do not have an ohm sign.
I bought these to keep the bobcats away. Really. We live in New Mexico out in the mountains and there have been some problems with bobcats in people backyards lately. According to our local experts they do not like noise. So I got these so the kids could play outside and there would be constant sound to deter the bobcats. Unless we have bobcats who like High School Musical we should be in good shape.

Yesterday we install a pair of the RTR speakers on an the outside bar of a neighbor. i was a bit exceptical at the beginning of the installation, mainly because of the mix reviews the speakers had.
mount them on the wall, i would say a good 8 feet from the ground.
we hook them up to an old Philips stereo my neighbor had (at the back it said 26W) but had an aux input. we put an ipod, crank up the volume…and WOW.
that what we said for around 2 hours that we were listening to music. we simply couldn’t believe that for 25 bucks, the sound we were getting.
some reviews say that “tiny sound” , my guess is that it depends on the amplifier you hook them up.
even at that height, we were listening to Salsa, we got a hint of bass.
i also purchase a pair and im gonna hook it up to an old home theater receiver, and we are thinking of adding another pair.
they come with a lot of extras (cable, wall mount, some rubber pads, etc)
great speaker…you are not gonna regret it.

When I put one pair of these in my cart, the price was below the $25 needed for free shipping and the shipping was $20. So how to do better? Order two pairs!
I used them for outdoor speakers. I replaced my big clunky 80s speakers indoor with the second pair; they make decent bookshelf speakers. The sound was much better than I expected for the size. They’re no Bose speakers, but the quality/$ ratio is much better!
I did have one problem that would have made me mad if I didn’t get lucky fixing it. One of the 4 speakers was DOA. But I just took off the terminal strip in back and a wire was unplugged from the inside; I could fish it out with a wire and a dental mirror. A quick fix. I wasn’t offended; the nearest comparable offering anywhere was easily 2x the price. It was easier than returning them.

These are a little weak on bass, but when used as rear surrounds on my system with large front speakers, they are a great complement.
