  • DVD±R/RW, DVD-Video, CD-R/RW, CD, SVCD, MP3 and WMA playback
  • Dual media capability records DVD±R/RW
  • 1080i HDMI with high-definition video up-conversion

  • i.LINK digital input for perfect digital camcorder copies

With Progressive Scan and 1080p HDMI, the DVDR3506 provides crystal clear pictures from DVDs and from signals received on its built-in SDTV digital receiver. Progressive Scan doubles the vertical resolution of the image resulting in a noticeably sharper picture. Instead of sending a field comprising the odd lines to the screen first, followed by the field with the even lines, both fields are written at one time. A full image is created instantaneously, using the maximum resolution. At such a speed, your eye perceives a sharper picture with no line structure. Philips DVD Recorders support `dual media¿ recording – the ability to create recordings on DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW discs. Now you can buy any disc and the Philips recorder will always create fully compatible recordings, which can be played by any DVD player.

Ordered product one day and it arrived the next day… Exactly as advertised (brand new, excellent condition, excellent care in shipping).

After reading reviews on this player, I was convinced it was superior. Upon hooking up and using it, I am convinced it is. I would highly recommend it (if you can find it still).

I have no complaints. I use this machine for the QAM tuner (picking up digital channels) and to burn DVDs of family miniDV tapes. Quality is excellent. I bought it brand new from Walmart for $138.00.

I bought this unit specifically because of the built in digital tuner. However, the tuner is so weak it could not receive a single channel. I have a converter box which pulls in all the digital channels available to me. Therefore, my antenna or my location is not to blame. I can’t comment on any other aspect because this was a major deal breaker and was returned the very next day after I received it.

I’ve been reading other folks’ reviews about this machine for some time. i have an analog TV that’s about 20 years old. The picture tube still works fine so I’m reluctant to buy a new TV. Of course, now that the country has changed over to digital broadcasts I needed a DTV box. Like millions of others I got a $40 coupon and bought a DTV box which, after a few months, stopped working. Now I was in the market for both a DVD/DIVX player and DTV receiver. As fate would have it the two worlds merged. There are a handful of these DVD/DVT combo boxes around, and because they’re so new, can only be referred to as the first generation combo units. I’ve read in certain places that this particular unit moves from channel to channel slowly. Not true. I don’t have an antenna. I just use a 6-foot plugged in to the back of the box which simply hangs to the floor. The reception is fine. Crystal clear. Of course, I only get about 9 channels, but that’s better than no channels – I guess. I’m not a big TV watcher. I only put it on for the news or if company comes by – background filler. The DVD and DIVX sections work fine. I burned a DIVX of ‘Shinobi – Heart Under Blade’ recently and watched it. It looks fine. I’m hoping this box doesn’t fail, but you know how temperamental electronic equipment can be – they can fail at any time like a Ford transmission. Because of the amount of things this unit does it can only receive 5 stars. Oh yeah, this unit records, too. Nice addition, but since I have no intention of recording anything soon, I won’t be testing this function for a while. Also, one last not. This machine has HDMI. Nice touch. If my dinosaur TV craps out, and I buy a high tech HDMI flat screen TV, I’ll be ready.
