DIRTY HARRY Streetwise San Francisco police detective Harry Callahan will nail the serial killer Scorpio… one way or the other… no matter what “the system” prescribes. Don Siegel directs one of the best police thrillers ever made. MAGNUM FORCE Sharpshooting rookie motorcycle cops have turned vigilante, eliminating crooks the courts can’t touch – thereby venturing into Harry’s cross-hairs. Written by future directors John Milius and Michael Cimino. THE ENFORCER When terrorists rob an arms warehouse and go on a bloody extortion spree, city leaders seek out Callahan, who’s now teamed with a lady partner (Tyne Daly) with two jobs: tracking down the terrorists–and winning Harry’s confidence. SUDDEN IMPACT On an out-of-town assignment, Harry tracks a traumatized rape victim (Sondra Locke) coldly gunning down her bygone attackers. Fueled by the line that became a national catchphrase: “Go ahead. Make my day.” THE DEAD POOL Fame isn’t Callahan’s style. He’d rather not be lumped in with a rocker, a film critic and a talk-show host. They’re slain celebrities named in a mysterious betting pool. And Harry just joined the list.

I just received the DIRTY HARRY collection [blu-ray] New edition from amazon. They delivered it early and also made good on “the pre-order price guarantee”. I have held of buying the DIRTY HARRY Collection [blu-ray] because I didn’t want all the STUFF & the HUGE BOX – I’m glad I waited – The Price is great (about ten dollars & change for each movie) and the blu-ray case is PERFECT! – It’s slightly larger(NOT TALLER-BUT A LITTLE DEEPER) then a regular blu-ray case. The discs are a little tight but much better then the alternative. The movies are the same RE-MASTERED VERSIONS as in the other collection – so, if you didn’t want the BIG BOX – this might be perfect for you – IT WAS FOR ME!!!

I just got this last week on the 16th with the preorder delivery. It is a nice assortment and is for people who don’t watch all the extras that are packed into a disc, like me. The disc quality is excellent and is the same ones that come in the larger pack. It is simple, the movies look great, but if you want extra features get the ultimate collection and if you’re interested in the movie only get this version.

A couple of years ago WB Home Video put out the Ultimate Dirty Harry Collection and this appears to be a paired down version of that. Lacking a few of the extras — the book, Biography special on Eastwood, Callahan’s badge — it is cheaper. If you don’t already have these films, this is a pretty inexpensive way to do so. You do get the commentaries, special on the film Dirty Harry as well as the retrospective The Long Shadow of Dirty Harry — “I like tough on criminals. I hunt them with a big gun so when I shoot them they fall down.” John Milius’ take on the character of Harry Callahan. The films: DIRTY HARRY ( classic )and four pretty entertaining sequels. A good edition to any library. Only Big Clint can fire that cannon with one hand, let alone the .44 Auto Mag. The pistol was the product of early 1970′s technology. Built to withstand internal pressures greater than those generated by a bolt action rifle. It fired a custom round which was a .44 bullet shoved into a cut-down .308 Winchester cartridge to give extra gunpowder, making it a really hot load. Watch closely in Sudden Impact and when Clint is target shooting you will see flames coming out of the barrel and ejection port. In Magnum Force you get a group of killer cops and future stars: David Soul (Starsky & Hutch), Tim Matheson (Animal House) and Robert Urich (Vegas and Spencer for Hire). Look closely at the Dead Pool and a drugged out rock star, Jim Carrey. Go ahead, make your day.
